Loca Vivant Kitchen Workshops & Pop-Ups in July
Baker vacation dates, a call for input on summer workshops and fried-food pop-ups, new order-deadline calendars, and a shared personal chef service update.
Stacy Rebich Hespanha

Dear friends of Loca Vivant Kitchen,
We have some exciting updates to share about what's happening this summer, including baker vacation dates, special workshops, and some tantalizing fried food pop ups!

No Pick Ups July 4th and 11th for Baker Vacation
We'll be pausing our regular baking operations for the first two weeks of July to give our baker, Devynn, some well-deserved vacation time.
IMPORTANT: Stock up on June 20th and 27th
Since we won't be producing our regular items during the July 1-15 closure, please order ahead and stock up on your essentials. Plan accordingly for those two weeks!
We’ve lined up bakes of all of our rotating items over this week and next to make sure you can get what you need:
June 20: Lemon Poppyseed Sourdough, Roasted Garlic Rosemary Sourdough, Pumpernickel “Rye” Loaf
June 27: Charcoal Marble Sourdough, Caraway “Rye” Sourdough, Sundried Olive Sourdough, Cinnamon Raisin Sandwich Loaf
During this baker vacation pause, we do have some fun things in mind! Please check out the information below about possible workshops and pop up events. These options only come around once or twice a year, so don’t miss out!

Workshops & Pop Ups — July 1-15
Please help us decide which workshops to offer!
We need your input on which workshops we should offer! We have lots of possibilities this year – friend and former collaborator at the bakery, Alicia, is also available to offer workshops with some craveworthy recipes. Here are the options:
Pre-July 4th Weekend (so we can help you get ready to celebrate)
Graham Crackers & Hamburger Buns Workshops – Perfect timing for your holiday gatherings! Join us for one comprehensive session or choose just the component that interests you most.
Fresh Fruit Tart Workshop – Learn to create beautiful tarts in holiday theme colors with shortbread pastry crusts, silky pastry cream, and fresh seasonal berries.
Between June 30th and July 15 (scheduled based on demand)
Sourdough Bread Making Workshops
Baklava Workshops
Tiramisu Workshops
Fried Donuts Workshops
We need to know which workshops you’re interested in so that we can use our kitchen downtime to provide the maximum enjoyment. We will accommodate our offerings and schedule to the preferences of those who fill out our survey.

Not-to-miss Pop Ups July 11 and 12!
While our kitchen is not set up for frying on a normal basis, we can make the most of this short pause with some special events. As you’ve come to expect from us, the possibilities below will be made with premium and locally-sourced ingredients, and we’ll be frying in avocado oil.
Donuts & Coffee
Saturday, July 12 | 9am-11am
We are planning for the real deal – yeasted fried donuts! And a little throwback to the coffee shop days – hot tea and espresso drinks featuring house-made organic almond milk or organic dairy.
Battered, Fried, ‘You Decide’
Friday & Saturday, July 11 & 12 | Late Afternoon & Evening
For those of us who need to follow a strict gluten-free diet, the options to enjoy fried foods are few and far between. (And as is the case with many non-GF treats, I often see the advantage in what this special diet helps me avoid.)
However, sometimes it is fun to have a special treat! Over Memorial Day weekend, I experimented with a batter + breadcrumb option for frying that is based on our new rosemary focaccia, and I was kind of blown away. So flavorful, and pleasantly crispy (and vegan-friendly)! For the event, we’ll be offering two versions of this batter – a vegan version made with almond milk, and a nut-free version made with organic dairy.
We really need to hear from you about 1) if you’re interested, and 2) what you’d love to enjoy at these events. Please let us know by following the link below.
New Feature: Never Miss Another Pre-Order Deadline
We've created some Google Calendar feeds for our site to help you stay on top of order deadlines and rotating specials:
General Calendar: Weekly order deadline reminders
Specialty Calendars: Get notified when your favorite rotating items are available
Avoid disappointment with yourself when you miss the deadline! Click on the link at the bottom of the calendar on our site to add any of our calendars to your own calendar and be in the know every week.
And if you do miss a deadline, be sure to check out the extras we post on our site every Wednesday by 11am. Once we decide on our batch sizes, the ‘extras’ are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Shared Personal Chef Service Updates
We're making steady progress on our shared personal chef service, though we've hit some technical hurdles with our current e-commerce platform. We're currently working through the challenges to ensure that our site can provide a good customer experience from day one.
What to Expect in Our MVP* Launch based on what you’ve told us in response to our questionnaire:
Build-Your-Own Meals: Seasonal vegetables, choice of starches and proteins, weekly and rotating house-made sauces
Family-Size Dishes: Any of the components from our Build-Your-Own-Meal menu in a larger portion
Prepped Local Ingredients: Pre-washed & chopped seasonal local ingredients perfect for speeding up your own home cooking and meal prep
We're planning a Chef Tasting Event in September where you can sample offerings and provide feedback on what excites you most. More details coming soon!
*MVP: Minimum Viable Product – this is the most basic offering that will be available through the service. Once we are up and running with our MVP, we will be adding more exciting meal and prepped ingredient options.
If you haven’t filled out our Client Interest Questionnaire yet, please let us know how our service can help meet your needs.

Thank you for being such an amazing community. Your enthusiasm and feedback help us grow and create new opportunities for food in community.
